Photo Blog Project 365: Day 135 – Oma’s Pumpkin Patch

I took Little A to Oma’s Pumpkin Patch in Lakeside for a fun playdate with Trisha, Ani, Iris and Melody.  This place was so cool!  There was so much to see and do that we didn’t even get to do everything we wanted.  Little A was in heaven when he found the 25+ toy dump trucks.  It was really difficult to get him to leave his dump truck paradise to go see anything else, like the petting zoo and the cotton seed hill.

When we first got there I put his “back-up” costume on – Bob the Builder.  He had a yellow hard hat and a tool belt on, which he was a lot more agreeable to wearing than the dragon costume.  If I had it my way he’d be a dragon, but I guess I can’t always have it my way.  I think the yellow in his costume is what caused him to get bitten by a yellow jacket because he just started screaming out of nowhere while looking at his hand and there was a pin prick on his pinky.  I never saw it so I don’t know what it was, but I’m pretty sure that’s what it was because the lady at the registers said there were six kids who came in all in a row with the same thing.  I guess those yellow jackets were in a bad mood!  Once we got some ointment and a band aid on his finger he completely forgot about it.

This was our first time to this pumpkin patch and we are in love.  We used to go to Victorias Gardens but never again!  This place is so much better.   They have everything a kid could ever dream of and it’s only $6 to get in and this includes a small pumpkin, a bottle of water, a ride on the hayride and admission to everything there.  They don’t nickel and dime you for each thing and make adults pay too like the other place does.  We never made it onto the hay ride because we ran out of time and I found out it was thirty minutes long.  I doubt he’d sit still for that long.  I heard that they turn this place into a Christmas Tree farm later so I’m definitely planning another visit in a couple months.

Photo Blog Project 365: Day 134 – He’s growing up too fast!

Day-134--DSC06704

Here’s a photo of Little A on his way out from preschool, pausing to adjust the Dr. Seuss hat he painted (you can’t see it because he has it on backwards) and carrying his snack box.  What a big boy!  I’m so glad he’s doing so well in preschool and is enjoying it so much.  Today his class learned about Dr. Seuss and Green Eggs and Ham.  In fact, his teachers cooked green eggs and ham for their snack and the whole classroom smelled really bad like eggs.  P U!

Streams of Consciousness – Mono Lake Photo

Streams-of-Consciousness--IMG_5941

I’ve grown addicted to blogging.  I can’t go to bed until I finish my posting for the day.  I’m enjoying it much more than I ever thought I would.  I’ve been looking at the stats for my site and within the past week the number of visitors I’m getting each day has jumped from the average of 40 to about 100, and I really have no idea why since I’m not doing anything different.  I took a closer look to see how people were finding me, and found it very funny that one guy in France searched for “MILF + Wonderland” and got my blog.  Somehow I don’t think my blog is what he was looking for.  Ha!

Here’s a fun sampling of what Little A’s vocabulary sounds like these days:

banana = baneena

laptop = eeptop

robot = beebot

daddy = daiey

grandpa = jeepa

Trisha = eesha

Audio = eeo

The above photo was taken at Mono Lake the first night I was on Navy  Beach last month.  I looked behind me and there was this cool little pond of water.  I started to walk closer to get a better shot and then noticed I was starting to sink.  I quickly grabbed my tripod, got out of there and took my shot from further back.  Yikes!  See all that black on the ground?  Those were alkali flies, thousands of them!

Ok, I’m off to go pick up my boy from preschool!

Holga Photos – Engagement Photo Shoot at Japanese Friendship Garden, Balboa Park

Here are the rest of the Holga shots that turned out well.  The way it’s been working for me is that I only get between 1-5 great shots out of the roll of 12.  My goal is to get all great shots on the roll.  I’m still loving my Holga, even though sometimes the results are unpredictable.  I wish the groom’s face was more lit up in the 3rd photo, but I love that look of adoration on their faces and I still love that shot.  I also got a lot of random lines, specks, and scratches that are very tedious to clean up in Photoshop.  I’m pretty sure it’s not my scanner since I just cleaned the glass.  I think it might be time to buy a brand new Holga since it seems it might be scratching the film.  My absolute favorite is this first one of the groom kissing the bride on the cheek.  I can’t believe I got lens flare that is centered perfectly on top of her forehead!  Oh, well…maybe she’ll still like the shot.  It almost looks like it could be part of her outfit. Or, maybe she’ll think it’s good luck (the bride is five months pregnant).

Photo Blog Project 365: Day 133 – How Each Day Should Begin

Day-133--How-Each-Day-Must-Begin

I actually took this photo yesterday while waiting in the car to go into my yoga class (got there a bit early).  I started the day today with a cup of coffee as well as a caramel apple, which made it even better!  I think I’m addicted to caramel apples.  This is one of the many reasons why I love the Fall.

Photo Blog Project 365: Day 132 – Mission Trails Regional Park

Day-132--DSC06672

When we move next month we’ll practically have this gorgeous park as part of our backyard, or an extension of it.  I’m so excited that we’ll be walking distance to so many great hiking trails and a short drive from Cowles Mountain and Lake Murray.  Yeah!  Guess I won’t have an excuse for not getting into shape. :)

Photo Blog Project 365: Day 130 – Deanna in Action on a Photo Shoot

Today I assisted Deanna with her photo shoot at the Japanese Friendship Garden at Balboa Park.  She was photographing a beautiful Japanese bride in a white kimono, an African-American groom, and the bride’s parents.  Talk about a tough time getting the white balance correct!  I caught this photo of Deanna in action  at the beginning of the shoot while our ex-classmate helped hold up the reflector.  Isn’t the bride just stunning?  Later she changed into a red kimono and the colors were just striking.  The setting was so gorgeous for these kinds of shots.  I shot a couple rolls in my Holga that I hope to have developed tomorrow.  I’m crossing my fingers I got some good ones!

Photo Blog Project 365: Day 129 – Following the Leader

Today we went to my cousin Aaron’s engagement party where Little A got to play with a whole bunch of kids.  Here’s a photo of him following Maggie as they both tried to walk in a straight line along the stepping stones.  Kids are too funny!
