It is a most ambitious project indeed to take a photo everyday and post about it, but I forget what I did last weekend and sometimes I don’t even remember what I did yesterday (case of the mommy brain). When I look back on the year I will have a nice visual history of memories. I want to improve my photography skills and need more reasons to get out with my camera. I don’t ever want to be caught in a rut where I don’t feel like using my camera. Photography is my meditation and outlet in life. I simply need it.
For anyone else out there who is curious about this idea, there is a great article on Photojojo about it. There are a lot of people doing it and there are so many ways in which to go about it (just self portraits, around your neighborhood, nature, hands and feet, family, anything and everything). I encourage anyone who is interested in doing this to just get started with Day 1 immediately! Then, please let me know so I can see your site. I think the most important thing is to let all your friends and family know that you are doing this so they can follow along and comment on your posts. This definitely helps you stay motiviated (hint hint to my peeps).
There are days when I feel like I can’t keep this up anymore, let’s hope there aren’t very many of those days and that I can push on.

This is me
I am a SAHM with a passion for photography, music, singing, nature and travel. I have a degree in theatre, which happens to serve me well in my photographic endeavours as I tend to favor lots of drama in my photos. Less drama in real life and more drama in photography and the make believe is my mantra.
I am definitely crazy about cameras and photography. I don’t feel like I’m missing out on life by always photographing things. This is how I like to experience life and this is how I will remember it when I’m old. I document my everyday life and the incredible growth of my toddler because it’s all going by so fast and I want to remember all of it.
Currently, I am working on two photography projects. The first one is Project 365 where I document my life with photography–take photos everyday for a year, post them, and blog about them. Someone asked me the other day if I felt pressure to make my life more exciting for this project. Wow, that was a great question, and, yes I do. I also feel motivated to always photograph the things I see in case I get something good that I will want to post. But I think this is why this is turning out to be such a great life experience. How great is it to want to make your life more exciting and get out there and do more things? We all need things to keep us motivated to be the best we can be in life.
The second project I’m working on is my photo book entitled “Floating.” This will be a fine art nature photography book that explores the nature of dreams, time and memory. As it turns out, I ended up writing a short story to go with my images and I hope to publish it on Blurb soon.

Welcome to my photography blog! I am a SAHM to an extremely active toddler boy, so needless to say I am very busy. In my precious free time, I like to explore my passion for photography by experimenting and having fun. I shoot digital, mainly nature shots, black and white and some portraits (mostly of my son). Recently, I’ve found myself returning to the analogue world of film and am intrigued by lomography. I’ve started shooting with a Holga and a Diana but admit it’s really tough waiting for the film to be developed. On the other end of the spectrum, I like HDR (High Dynamic Range) and the surreal photos you can create with this technology. I am not a purist. I love digital and analog, B/W and color, nature, modern abstracts, portraits….. I like to try things out and I take pictures because it makes me happy. I admit I have a collector’s urge and find myself on Ebay coveting old cameras. Luckily, the option to “watch” items up for auction quells most of my shopping urges so my husband doesn’t have a heart attack watching me buy tons of vintage cameras. This is my blog of my photography adventures, trials, tribulations, experimentations and a-ha moments. So there you have it–I’m a mom (I try to keep it interesting–imagine images taken with my Diana camera through a fisheye lens at my son’s Elmo Birthday Party), nature lover, aspiring photographer, and a little crazy about this passion. If there’s anyone who actually reads this, I do hope you enjoy it and maybe find out a thing or two along the way. Oh, and thanks to my friend April (aka Evil Orange)–a conversation with her yesterday sparked our motivation to start sister photography blogs.
