I’m still struggling with how to photograph the moon in full focus, even with a tripod. I shot this photo from my front yard. This was the best I could do with my DSLR, which I had dusted off to use as I hadn’t taken it out in months. I need to get inspired again! A little weekend trip would be nice…..

Photo Blog Project 365: Day 221 – Hiking the Trail
Today the sun was shining again, the weather was sweet and all was well again in my life. I love the sunshine! In the afternoon we decided to take everyone out to explore a nearby canyon trail right up the street from our house. The hubby was in charge of Miles, our dog, and I was in charge of Little A. It was a nice little walk, although it was pretty muddy. At one point it got so muddy we made the executive decision to turn around. I was imagining Little A doing a face plant right in the mud and I didn’t want to deal with cleaning him all up.
On our way back I managed to break out the camera for just two shots. In this one, Little A stopped to look at something down in the mud. He’s pretty enthralled with ants right now so I think he may have been looking for some. We’ve been doing battle with ants at our house as everytime it rains they start coming in through the cracks in our bathrooms and our kitchen.
Photo Blog Project 365: Day 210 – Unchartered Landscape
This was shot at the San Diego River Ecological Reserve. I happened to pass it on my way home today and have always thought how mysterious it looked with all those dead trees. No one can enter as it’s protected for the wildlife, so even if a lot of the trees are dead it still supports a big ecosystem.
I confess I haven’t been putting much effort into my photography for the past couple months. As you may well know, most of my energy and focus has been on the interior design of my new rental home. Please visit my new sister blog to read about my latest projects and finds on CL.
Photo Blog Project 365: Day 206 – Sunset with Little A
While I was trying to photograph the sunset on this night, Little A ran in front of the camera and said, “Cheese!”

Photo Blog Project 365: Day 200 – Never the Same Sunset

The sunset we view from our house is uniquely its own each evening. No two have ever been quite the same. Some days the colors are spectacular and the horizon is red or pink. Other days it’s more muted and subtle due to the cloud cover and there is only a little bit of that brilliant color that peeks through for a minute or two. I do recall that New Year’s Eve the sunset was the reddest I’ve ever seen it. It was amazing!
One thing is for certain: I will never, ever take this view for granted or grow tired of it. I’m sorry if some of you are growing tired of these kinds of photos but right now it’s what I’m choosing to photograph a lot because I’m enjoying it so much.
I love other photographer’s 365 projects where they’ve photographed the same view and horizon everyday at the same time and it is amazing to see how different each one looked. I’m not about to get myself committed to another 365 Project until I’m done with this one. Day 200 done. Phew! 165 more days to go….
Photo Blog Project 365: Day 161 – Tranquil Lake Murray Sunset

On our way to grab dinner we saw this and I just had to stop the car. The lighting was so gorgeous on the water. I love our new neighborhood!
Photo Blog Project 365: Day 143 – Fallen Tree

I took this photo from the Target parking lot. Crazy, huh? I noticed that sorry looking tree as I was pulling into the shopping center and thought that maybe I could make a photo with it. It reminds me of a photo by this Danish photographer that I just discovered named Adam Jeppesen. His photography is quite haunting and sometimes very dark.
Regarding my post “Speaking of Lucky,” I must confess there is one thing I do wish to have the latest and greatest of: camera equipment! Oh how I long for a new macro lens and a brand new SLR body with a larger LCD screen. My poor 20D is so ancient and weak next to the 50D. If money weren’t an issue I’d be coveting the new 7D!
